海德漢封閉式直線光柵尺的鋁外殼有效保護光柵尺、讀數頭和導軌，避免其受灰塵、切屑和切削液的影響。自動向下壓的彈性密封條保持外殼密封。

讀數頭沿光柵尺的小摩擦力導軌運動。讀數頭通過*個聯軸器與外部安裝架連接，聯軸器可以補償光柵尺與機床導軌間不可避免的對正誤差。
